Create Page Layouts

Create page layouts when you want customers to quickly apply reusable photo and text arrangements while designing.

For photobooks, page layouts are useful for common page structures such as one large photo, two-photo spreads, collage pages, caption pages, or mixed photo and text pages.

When To Create A Page Layout

Create page layouts when:

  • Customers need layout choices inside the designer.
  • You want to reuse the same photo holder arrangement across many templates.
  • You want to speed up photobook page design.
  • You want to group layouts by photo count or style.

You can skip this step if the template already contains all required page designs and customers do not need to switch layouts while editing.

Template Vs Page Layout

A template is a complete prepared design. It can include pages, backgrounds, photo holders, text fields, clipart, and other editable objects.

A page layout is a reusable arrangement of photo holders and text fields. It is applied inside the designer to help customers change the structure of a page.

Use templates for the full starting design. Use page layouts for reusable page arrangements.

Before You Start

Prepare:

  • A clear layout name.
  • Tags for filtering and search.
  • The number of photo holders needed.
  • Any text fields needed on the page.
  • A thumbnail image, if you want the layout to be easier to recognize.

Create A Page Layout

  1. Log in to EzyAdmin.
  2. Open Creative Assets > Templates.
  3. Open an existing template or create a temporary template for layout creation.
  4. Add the photo holders and text fields you want in the layout.
  5. Position and resize the objects.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Select Save Layout.
  8. Enter the layout name and tags.
  9. Click Save.

The saved layout appears in the Page Layout tab.

What Gets Saved

A page layout saves:

  • Photo holder positions.
  • Photo holder sizes.
  • Text field positions.
  • Text field sizes.

A page layout does not save a full template design. Backgrounds, clipart, and full-page artwork should be handled in templates or creative asset setup.

Layout Groups

Layouts are grouped by the number of photo holders.

For example, a layout with one photo holder appears in the one-photo layout group. A layout with four photo holders appears in the four-photo layout group. The All group shows every saved layout.

Update A Page Layout

To update an existing layout:

  1. Open the layout in Template Creator.
  2. Adjust the photo holders or text fields.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Select Update Layout.
  5. Confirm the layout name and tags.
  6. Click Update.

The existing layout is replaced with the updated version.

Publish A Page Layout

Saved layouts are unpublished by default.

To publish a layout:

  1. Open Creative Assets > Layouts.
  2. Find the layout.
  3. Open the options menu.
  4. Click Publish.

After publishing, the layout is available in the designer Page Layout tab.

Edit Layout Details

From Creative Assets > Layouts, you can:

  • Edit the layout name.
  • Edit tags.
  • Upload or replace the thumbnail image.
  • Publish or unpublish the layout.
  • Delete the layout.

Use square JPG thumbnails when possible so layouts are easy to scan in the designer.

To delete a layout:

  1. Open Creative Assets > Layouts.
  2. Find the layout.
  3. Open the options menu.
  4. Click Delete.

Deleting a layout removes it from the admin dashboard and from the customer designer.
