Create a Photobook Template

Create a photobook template when you want customers to start from a prepared design instead of a blank canvas.

A template can include pages, photo holders, text fields, backgrounds, clipart, and other editable objects. Customers can then personalize the template with their own photos and text.

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • Chosen the correct photobook blank.
  • Prepared the template name.
  • Prepared any tags, occasions, or language settings you want to use for filtering.
  • Prepared JPG images for sample photos or backgrounds.
  • Prepared PNG files for transparent clipart, if needed.
  • Confirmed the page size and orientation.

Do not upload CMYK images. Use RGB JPG files for photos and backgrounds to avoid unexpected color conversion issues.

Create A New Template

  1. Log in to EzyAdmin.
  2. Open Creative Assets > Templates.
  3. Click Create new group.
  4. Enter the template details.
  5. Select the product or blank the template belongs to.
  6. Select the occasion, language, and tags if required.
  7. Click Create.

The Template Creator opens in a new tab.

Template Details

Use clear names and tags so the template is easy to find later.

  • Template name: The name shown in the admin template list and designer template area.
  • Product: The photobook blank or product this template is created for.
  • Occasion: The event or category, such as wedding, birthday, travel, or school.
  • Tags: Search terms such as #birthday, #minimal, or #newyear.
  • Language: The language version of the template, if your account uses multiple languages.

Design The Template

Inside Template Creator, build the design customers will personalize.

Common template objects include:

  • Photo holders: Editable frames where customers place their photos.
  • Text fields: Editable text areas for names, dates, captions, or messages.
  • Backgrounds: JPG images placed behind the main design.
  • Clipart: Transparent PNG design elements.
  • Pages: Additional photobook pages added from the bottom page controls.

Save regularly while designing.

Add Photo Holders

Use photo holders for any area where a customer should add or replace a photo.

Photo holders can be square, portrait, landscape, or custom-sized depending on the layout. After adding a holder, position it inside the safe design area and resize it as needed.

Add Text

Use text fields for editable customer text.

Text fields can be styled with font, size, alignment, color, background color, bold, and italic options.

The default placeholder text, such as Enter Your text, is not printed. Replace it with real sample text when you want the text to appear in the final output.

Emoji are currently unsupported and may be ignored.

Add Backgrounds And Clipart

Use backgrounds and clipart to make templates easier for customers to start from.

  • Background images should be JPG.
  • Clipart should be transparent PNG.
  • Backgrounds can be applied to a page, spread, left page, or right page depending on the photobook format.

You can manage reusable backgrounds and clipart from the Creative Assets area.

Add Or Manage Pages

For photobook products, use Add Pages to create additional pages inside the template.

Review every page before publishing. Check that photo holders, text fields, backgrounds, and clipart are positioned correctly and stay inside the safe area.

Preview And Save

Use Preview to check the template before publishing.

Before saving or publishing, confirm:

  • The correct blank or product is selected.
  • All required pages are included.
  • Photo holders are correctly sized and positioned.
  • Text fields are editable where needed.
  • Important content stays inside the safe area.

Click Save before closing the Template Creator.

Publish The Template

Publishing makes the template available for use in the customer designer or product setup flow.

  1. Return to the Templates dashboard.
  2. Open the template group.
  3. Use the template options menu.
  4. Click Publish.

If you need to hide a template later, use Unpublish from the same options menu.

Resize A Template

Use resizing when one design should be adapted to another supported photobook size.

  1. Open the template in Template Creator.
  2. Open the Layouts tab.
  3. Select the target size.
  4. Save the resized template when it opens.
  5. Review every page and adjust object alignment.
