Key Concepts

This page explains the terms used across the Ezycreate setup guides. Read this first if you are new to product setup, templates, publishing, or store connections.

Product Designers

Product designers are the customer-facing design tools used for different product types.

DesignerCommon use cases
Photobook DesignerPhotobooks, albums, multi-page books.
Print DesignerPrints, posters, cards, single-page products.
Calendar DesignerWall calendars, desk calendars, yearly or monthly calendars.
Custom Product DesignerDecor, apparel, DTF, mugs, merchandise, gifts, and other custom products.

EzyAdmin

EzyAdmin is the admin area where you configure products, product blanks, templates, assets, store connections, and publishing settings.

Most Help Center guides assume that you are signed in to EzyAdmin and have permission to create or edit the relevant item.

Product Blank

A product blank is the base configuration for a product before it becomes sellable.

It usually defines:

  • Product size and orientation.
  • Printable surfaces.
  • Safe area, bleed area, and trim area.
  • Output type, such as JPG or PDF.
  • Designer type.
  • Product attributes, such as material, substrate, binding, or lamination.

Examples:

  • A 12x12 photobook blank.
  • A 4x6 print blank.
  • A wall calendar blank.
  • A t-shirt blank.

Template

A template is a reusable design layout that can be applied to a product blank or product.

Templates may include:

  • Photo holders.
  • Text fields.
  • Backgrounds.
  • Clipart.
  • Layout structure.
  • Design elements customers can customize.

Templates help customers start from a finished design instead of a blank canvas.

Template Group

A template group is a collection of related templates. Template groups are commonly used to organize templates by design, theme, size, language, or occasion.

For example, one birthday photobook design may have multiple templates in the same group for different sizes or orientations.

Product

A product is the sellable item created from a product blank and one or more templates.

A product usually includes:

  • Product name and description.
  • Product blank.
  • Template or template group.
  • Variants.
  • Pricing.
  • SKU details.
  • Mockup images.
  • Store publishing settings.

Ready Product

A ready product is a product where the design is mostly prepared in advance. Customers may choose or preview the design, but they have less customization work to do.

Use a ready product when you want a faster customer flow with controlled design output.

Customizable Product

A customizable product lets customers personalize the design in the product designer. They may upload photos, add text, change layouts, choose backgrounds, or adjust other editable elements.

Use a customizable product when customers need more creative control.

Variant

A variant is a version of a product with a different size, design, SKU, price, color, or other option.

Examples:

  • 8x8 and 12x12 photobook sizes.
  • Matte and glossy print options.
  • Small, medium, and large apparel sizes.

SKU

A SKU is a unique identifier used to track a product or product variant. It is used for product management, pricing, publishing, and fulfillment.

Store

A store is a connected storefront or website where products or templates can be published.

Depending on your setup, stores may connect through:

  • WordPress / WooCommerce.
  • Shopify.
  • API or SDK integration.
  • A custom storefront.

Templates & Assets

Templates and assets are reusable design materials used inside product designers.

Common assets include:

  • Page layouts.
  • Backgrounds.
  • Clipart.
  • Mask images.
  • Product mockups.

Page Layout

A page layout is a reusable arrangement of photo holders and text fields. Page layouts are especially useful for photobooks, calendars, and other products where customers build pages from reusable structures.

Mask Image

A mask image defines the editable or printable area of a product. Masks are commonly used for shaped products, framed areas, cutouts, or products where customers must design inside a specific region.

Some simple products can use masks created during setup. More complex products may need mask images prepared before product blank setup.

Safe Area, Bleed Area, And Trim Area

These areas help prevent print and cutting issues.

  • Safe area: the area where important content should stay.
  • Bleed area: extra design area that extends beyond the final trim.
  • Trim area: the final cut boundary of the product.

Product Attributes

Product attributes describe configurable product properties, such as material, substrate, lamination, binding, finish, or other production options.

Attribute options are the choices available for a given attribute.

Example:

  • Attribute: Lamination
  • Options: Matte, Gloss, None

Categories And Occasions

Categories and subcategories organize products for management and storefront display.

Occasions organize designs or templates by customer intent, such as birthday, wedding, travel, graduation, or holiday.

Publishing

Publishing makes a product, template, or layout available for use in a connected store or product designer.

Publishing may involve:

  • Publishing templates to a store.
  • Adding templates to a store product.
  • Publishing a product.
  • Updating product status.

Integrations

Integrations connect Ezycreate to another store, app, or custom platform.

Common integration paths include:

  • WordPress / WooCommerce plugin.
  • Shopify app.
  • API access.
  • Mobile SDK.

To request API, SDK, Shopify app, or custom integration access, use the developer access page.
